Colder Products Company Senior Supplier Machining Engineer in Arden Hills, Minnesota

Colder Products Company (CPC) is the leading provider of quick disconnect couplings, fittings and connectors for plastic tubing. At CPC, we believe that fluid handling should be safe and easy. We engineer our connection solutions to improve the overall functionality and design of equipment and processes for the life sciences, industrial, and chemical handling markets. Special features of our products include precise hose barbs for superior grip, built-in shutoff valves for preventing spills, and easy-to-use, push-button thumb latches for quick connecting and disconnecting. CPC is a Dover company based in Minnesota (Minneapolis/St. Paul metro) with global offices and operations in Europe and Asia. This position is a driver for change and continuous improvement within existing products and new product development teams. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Metals Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our machining and plating processes, ensuring efficiency, precision, and quality in the production of machined components at our suppliers. While CNC programming is not required, machining experience is essential. Additionally, familiarity with CNC processes is considered a valuable asset. The incumbent will serve as the technical liaison between CPC's technical staff and suppliers to drive a culture of continuous improvement with an emphasis on eliminating waste and variability at our suppliers to improve quality, speed-to-market and cost. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Continuously improve metal manufacturing processes at suppliers to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste while maintaining the highest quality standards. Work closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Strategic Sourcing and Quality to ensure seamless integration of metal processes within the overall development and production workflow. Provide technical recommendations for supplier selection activities along with alignment with Strategic Sourcing. Jointly develop and manage strong supplier relationships with category managers to provide the best competitive advantage. Drive alignment between supplier capabilities and CPC's technical requirements aligning CPC designs for purchased components to ensure manufacturability. Monitor capacity at metal suppliers and develop plans with metal suppliers to increase capacity to support growth and S&OP plans. Facilitate supplier engagement in new product development teams. Drive dialogue for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) activities. Ensure supplier process capability exists to support production requirements, including conducting supplier process audits. Review and analyze product drawings, 3D models and related specifications to be processed and have any errors or inconsistencies resolved. Direct / lead efforts to prevent and resolve complex purchased component manufacturability issues. Drive utilization of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to clearly communicate and align technical requirements with suppliers. Comply with all quality policies, while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement. Support the processes of ISO, ASI and other certifications deemed necessary by the business. Demonstrate support of CPC core values. Comply with all company policies and safety regulations. Perform other job duties as assigned to meet business needs. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields. Minimum 10 years of experience in supplier development / supplier quality / manufacturing of machined metal components. Strong working knowledge of various categories including but not limited to springs, plating, metal fabrication and stampings. Product design and/or manufacturing experience of one or more listed categories highly desired. Strong demonstrated project management skills. PMP certification preferred. CMQ/OE, CQA or CQE c rtification a plus. (American Society for Quality Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence; Certified Quality Auditor; Certified Quality Engineer) Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as proven experience working one-on-one with suppliers, business units, engineering, and senior management, both internally and with suppliers. Creative problem solver. Able to analyze and resolve problems using initiative. Self-motivated and confident. Comfortable to work independently, as well as within highly matrixed, cross-functional teams. Able to balance many tasks and conflicting priorities. Able to negotiate conflict. Astute organizational skills with drive to meet deliverables in a timely manner. Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong working knowledge of medical device quality system requirements (QSR 21 CFR Part 820) and current requirements of ISO 9001 / ISO 13485. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of Lean Sigma, Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and problem-solving concepts. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, advanced Excel, and Teams. CNC Experience, with basic understanding of CNC processes. Experience with multi-axis CNC machines. PREFFERED REQUIREMENTS Experience working in a global, multi-site manufacturing company. Familiarity with Creo software Experience working with Oracle ERP system.
