City Of Apple Valley Lead Sales Clerk in Apple Valley, Minnesota

The Lead Clerk is responsible for maintaining store operations in the absence of the store Manager or Lead Supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to: opening and closing of store, operating a cash register; stocking of liquor store coolers and shelves; balancing sales receipts; cleaning of store; providing work direction and training other part-time staff when store manager or Lead Supervisor are not on duty. Provides excellent customer service. Provide excellent customer service, including but not limited to: handling complaints, verifying I.D.'s, for authenticity, making sure no illegal sales are made to intoxicated patrons or minors. Recommend and sell merchandise to customers. Help carry merchandise to customer's vehicles. May supervise receipt and deposit of money, count cash, balance cash receipts, and prepare bank deposit forms. Performs cashier duties, including operating cash register/point-of-sale (POS) system. Changes, rotates and prices displays. Stocks and rotates liquor merchandise on shelves (involves carrying cases of beer, liquor and wine). Stocks coolers and set-up displays. Performs general cleaning maintenance at the liquor store, including but not limited to; setting up and dismantling displays; dusting shelves, displays, etc.; vacuuming and sweeping floors; removing snow from walkways; removing trash from store; cleaning store and cooler windows; washing shelves and bottles; and cleaning restrooms. Provides work direction to casual part-time staff during shift in the absence of store management staff. Assists with training of the staff, including store guidelines, product knowledge and carding procedures. Monitors ongoing inventory, assists with cycle counts. Inspects and verifies incoming stock. Prepares transfers and makes adjustments for distress merchandise. Prepares store for opening and closing, including operating the alarm system. Performs other duties consistent with the tasks of the position as maybe assigned by the City. This position is a casual variable hour position (approximately 10-25 hours per week). As a Lead clerk you will be scheduled from 4:00 p.m./5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday and Sundays; Sunday hours 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Weekends and holidays are a must.
