Position Overview:

The electrocardiography (EKG) technician performs procedures which record cardiac activity for various diagnostic tests, including: 12 lead EKG, rhythm strips, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, cardiac stress monitoring, and transient Arrhythmia monitoring and perform peripheral diagnostic pressure and doppler measurements. Must also maintain department equipment, provide routine preventative maintenance, adhere to infection control procedures, as well as perform department clerical work; distribute and maintain records and monitor supplies.

EDUCATION

HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

Other: Formal training in basic cardiology department procedures. or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

At least 500 hours on-the-job training as an EKG tech in cardiology department of an accredited acute care hospital.

Previous experience as an EKG tech in an acute care facility preferred.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Competent to perform necessary cardiac diagnostic test as outlined in the position description.

Must possess skills for basic understanding of diagnostic tests.

Ability to efficiently use and troubleshoot diverse equipment necessary for job performance.

Ability to assess, evaluate and respond to patients based on age or other functional limitations.

Ability and confidence to work independently and act as a resource on behalf of the department.

Pay Range is $31.37 to $39.39 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
