Position supports the Michigan Center for Bowel Control Program (MBCP) patients that spans Von Voigtlander OBGYN and Taubman Center GI.

Responsibilities*

  • Greet patients and complete the check-in process verifying demographic and insurance information.

  • Schedule new and return patient visits determining appropriate provider based on specific standards.

  • Schedule patients for follow up appointments at check out.

  • Maintains clinic calendar, rescheduling patients after clinic closures.

  • Maintains MBCP referral queue.

  • HIM and POC scanning including PT notes, diaries, testing, labs, notes, letters, record sets- and notifies appropriate physicians.

  • Handles incoming and outgoing faxes regarding new plans of care, progress, and discharges for patients in physical therapy.

  • Retrieves records from patients, outside facilities, ROI.

  • Follows up on patients who cannot be contacted by nursing by sending them a letter requesting a call back.

  • Actively comb provider schedules for appropriateness.

  • Monitors weekly schedules for cancellations and contact patients to move up appointments.

  • Work prior day?s schedule to look for patients who didn?t check out and video/tele visits, so no follow up tasks are missed.

  • Assist patient with insurance codes.

  • Obtains physician signatures in SignNow.

  • Maintains lists in share drive that include: MBCP new patients, Referring MDs, Defecatory Physicians in Other States, Patient Success Stories, CPT Codes, Department telephone directories, Numbers/Pagers & MDs.

  • Sort and distribute physician mail.

  • Assist in FMLA, medical, and return-to-work/school paperwork management.

  • Provide front desk coverage to Clinical PSA team as needed.

  • Miscellaneous - Other duties as assigned by administrative leadership.

  • Provide outstanding customer service in a busy, fast-paced office setting.

  • Collect payments from patients and provide receipt of payment.

  • Work within an electronic medical record to complete clerical tasks.

  • Use various scheduling work queues to schedule patients.

  • Make outgoing calls to patients for scheduling or rescheduling appointments.

  • Patient letter and forms management such as FMLA and Return-to-School/Work.

  • Regular combing of schedules to ensure proper appointment placement and schedule utilization.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 3 ? 4 years of experience.

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

  • Prior experience performing complex scheduling.

  • Familiarity with obtaining medical records or professional medical billing.

  • Financial counseling experience for healthcare patients.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting.

  • Communicates effectively.

  • Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience working within a large, complex health care setting.

  • Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems.

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures
