Summary

As Managing Director, you will oversee schoolwide academic programs, instructional services, media services, and student services and report directly to the Senior Associate Dean of Education. Focused on translating strategic goals into actionable plans, you will ensure seamless alignment across units and teams within the School of Public Health.

In this newly established role, you will lead efforts to enhance operational performance, develop and implement strategic initiatives related to programs and services, and optimize the student experience. Leading a dedicated team of up to 37 professionals, you will work with staff and faculty, promoting a collaborative environment through communication and coordination. This exciting opportunity calls for an entrepreneurial spirit to build the necessary infrastructure, manage change, and ensure positive impacts for students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities*

Programs Strategy and Management 40%

  • Provide operational and strategic leadership support to the Senior Associate Dean and faculty to execute the strategy and mission.

  • Oversee the execution of key projects and initiatives, identify roadblocks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.

  • Work with departments, students, faculty, and staff to provide seamless delivery of high-quality experiences for students.

  • Collaborate with leaders to address the needs of our schoolwide programs and students, and maintain accreditation standards.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and process optimization.

  • Ensure the successful implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion programming and foster a culture of inclusion.

Leadership and Management 30%

  • Lead a team of faculty and staff directing the undergraduate, online, and MPH core curriculum, pathways to public health, public health practice and instructional, media, and student services.

  • Model and promote a collaborative, learning-oriented, and high-performance culture.

  • Ensure the performance, engagement, and effectiveness of these teams, by working with the directors of each area.

  • Manage the operating budget and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

Strategic Planning 20%

  • In partnership with the Senior Associate Dean and faculty directors, set the strategic direction for schoolwide programs. Plan, develop, and implement short- and long-range objectives, and prioritize new initiatives.

  • Ensure alignment and agreement of the strategy with department chairs and other school administrators.

  • Evaluate the strategic plan and action items using broad data analysis.

  • Identify and implement change management and communication strategies

  • Monitor trends and conduct research to identify innovative opportunities to enhance our academic programs and services.

Relationship Management 10%

  • Promote communication between departments and teams and resolve conflicts to promote a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.

  • Build internal and external relationships to identify how we can best partner with our programs and services.

  • Support and contribute to the plans of the faculty directors to maintain quality enrollment and growth.

  • In partnership with the Development team and the Senior Associate Dean, cultivate relationships with national and international organizations, alumni, and donors to promote and support our students and programs.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, business, or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years progressive experience in related positions such as advanced program development, student services, project management, or strategic planning in a complex organization.

  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing a team including hiring, developing and retaining team members with a focus on positive organization best practices.

  • Experience developing and evaluating programs in an academic environment including student engagement.

  • Demonstrated experience in fiscal management and experience preparing and monitoring budgets.

  • Proficiency and applied experience in program or project management.

  • Applied experience in strategic planning, executing plans using best practices, and process improvement.

  • Demonstrated multicultural fluency.

  • Interest in working with diverse partners across a decentralized organization.
