Cummins Inc. Upfit Assembly Technician in Ankeny, Iowa

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Upfit Assembly Technician to join our Upfit production facility in Des Moines (Ankeny), IA.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Install value-added components to loose engines and generators to meet customer requirements and design specifications.

  • Light production assembly, including: drilling, bolting and light fabrication.

  • Interpret basic installation drawings and work as a team to accomplish installations.

  • Ability to read detailed equipment and part diagrams/prints (including 2D and 3D drawings) of Cummins and OEM products and verify torque values referenced from established engineered guidelines.

  • General shop maintenance such as inspecting extension cords, replacing air lines, general maintenance, daily JSA (Job Safety Analysis) reports, welder inspections and daily time sheets.

  • Comfortable working at heights using fall protection and proper PPE.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

  • Ability to work in an automotive shop / manufacturing setting and use power tools to remove / install external diesel engine and generator components

  • Mechanical knowledge, Automotive repair and Assembly experience preferred.

  • Ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent time management skills and intermediate level computer skills.

  • Must be able to physically lift 50 pounds occasionally, wear required personal protective equipment as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  • This position does not require any Department of Transportation (DOT) related pre-screenings.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
