Job Description:

Job Title: Operational Sanitation Worker

Location: Fresh Commissary

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function:

Sanitation Workers play an important role in the Food and Processing industry by cleaning production equipment, machines, and work areas in food processing facilities. In this role, you will use USDA-approved chemicals to disinfect surfaces, sanitize all components of our food production and processing equipment, and ensure that there is no unnecessary waste along the assembly line.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure correct chemicals and procedures followed.

  • Ability to work with other shift members to complete cleaning assignments.

  • Use Personal protective equipment as required for each cleaning task performed.

  • Follows correct lockout/tag out and safety procedures as directed for each piece of equipment.

  • Work safely with chemicals and ensure correct personal protective equipment is used.

  • Adheres to company policies and individual center guidelines.

  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

  • Maintains a positive attitude; creates an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.

  • Follows all food safety procedures.

  • Assist in all set up and clean up responsibilities.

  • Use approved chemicals to disinfect surfaces

  • Able to follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Disassemble, sanitize, and reassemble food processing equipment

  • Dispose of waste along the assembly line

  • Able to work independently with great attention to detail.

  • Sweep, spray and squeegee production floor.

  • Dust ventilation ducts to ensure proper airflow

  • Report potential issues to management

  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress

  • Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines

  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work under time constraints and be flexible in hours worked.

  • Monitors and implements HAACP and Good Manufacturing Practices at all times.

  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

  • Smiles and greets employees in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the center.

  • Works from a written or verbal list.

Minimum Education/Experience Required to Perform Job:

High school graduate or equivalent education preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Must be able to be on feet (standing and walking) for 6-8 hours a day.

  • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to read and understand simple math measurements

Working Conditions:

This is a fast paced work environment and may be required to work in a 38 degree environment. This position involves exposure to dirt, dust, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, and chemicals/solvents.

Contacts:
