Description: Lockheed Martin is developing transformational energy storage technologies that will enable renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, to power our world anywhere, anytime, and at low cost.
-We have an exciting opportunity for a systems-oriented engineer with project engineering skills to join our team at our campus in Andover, MA.
-In this exciting role, the Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of grid-scale electrochemical energy storage systems.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to define system-level requirements, with responsibility for both electrochemical devices and the balance of plant.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to drive our success ensuring that systems and sub-systems performance targets are met through proper design, integration, and test.
-The engineer will conduct trade studies to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve the cost and performance of the product design.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to perform and document safety analyses.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams in root cause and corrective action investigations to address critical failure modes.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to write and maintain systems engineering controlled design documents such as system requirements, interface control documents, N2 diagrams, use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, and block diagrams.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to prepare technical reports and give technical presentations to colleagues within the organization.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to work with chemists and engineers of various disciplines, such as chemical, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to keep up-to-date on related industry best practices and technological advancements.

The Locale: Andover Massachusetts is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Andover is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Salem, New Hampshire. Andover is within reach of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH which lie about 45 minutes to the east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Andover and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Andover? Andover is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the south without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Andover. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north. It should be noted that Andover, Massachusetts is approximately 25 miles north of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree in a technical field; or 9 years of professional experience with a related PhD.
-At least 10 years of product development experience in a related field is required.
-Demonstrated experience in a related technical field is required.
-The ability to communicate effectively to an audience of diverse and varied technical backgrounds is required.
-The ability to cross the boundaries of multiple technical disciplines is required.
-Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
-A BS or advanced degree in relevant technical discipline such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field.
-Strong preference will be given to candidates who have successfully transitioned industrial equipment from prototype to production.
-Demonstrated experience leading technical projects is desired.
-Experience in any of the following areas is desired and valued: Electrochemical systems, such as fuel cells, batteries, or electrolyzers, and the balance of plant and process equipment used in such devices
-Power electronics and / or power systems engineering
-Industrial automation and controls
-Software development skills would be a plus.
-Development of safety systems, including failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
-Certification of such devices (ex. UL, CE, IEEE, NEMA, NESC, etc.)
-Experience with renewable energy storage products would be a plus.
