Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) is a unique electric generation and distribution cooperative, serving 59 communities across Alaska. Our operation spans 46 small, isolated grids relying on a mix of diesel, wind, and solar generation to power 11,513 meters and maintain 515 miles of distribution line.

What's your day like?

As a new Maintenance Tech - Diesel Mechanic at Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, you can expect to work hands-on with diesel-powered equipment, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure optimal functionality. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting inspections, servicing equipment, diagnosing issues, and completing repairs efficiently and effectively. You will collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks, adhere to safety protocols, and maintain accurate maintenance records. The position requires a commitment to working 10-hour days, 6 days a week, in order to meet the demands of maintaining critical equipment in remote Alaskan villages. Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic will be key to excelling in this role.
