ENSTAR Natural Gas Engineering Coordinator in Anchorage, Alaska

JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Temporary Engineering Coordinator is to assist the Engineering Services Department with administrative functions, coordinate line locate schedule, and maintain/retain logs, records, and files.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Clerical duties: Answer telephone and relay messages. Compile, copy, maintain and file records of transactions/activities to produce reports. Maintain data in record books. Record orders for merchandise or service. Assist customers and employees.Prepare, issue, and mail receipts, bills, policies, invoices, statements and other documents. Open and route incoming/outgoing mail. Answer correspondence. Proof records/forms. Address/stuff envelopes. Make copies and perform minor copier maintenance. Assist other departments with clerical tasks. Run errands. Coordinate/assign locators in day-to-day activities and prepare schedules, including interactions and dispatching Anchorage line locator personnel.
  • May record incidents and dispatch crews in an emergency situation.
  • Maintain the main extension and the street/subdivision log in the computer.
  • Research and dispatch records information to engineering to field personnel.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Maintain as-built distribution log.
  • Responsible for Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual updates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of administrative experience.
  • Experience in utility industry preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Alaska Driver's License and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the ENSTAR's Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, background, past employment, and driving record screening.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals within and outside of ENSTAR.
  • Ability to learn and understand ENSTAR's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Ability to operate a computer and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good professional/technical writing skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, customers and management.
  • Must maintain a safe environment for co-workers, customers and the public through adherence to established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards.
  • Must adhere to ENSTAR's policies and procedures related to the code of business ethics, compliance, responsible use of assets, and all applicable state and federal laws.

Physical Effort:Sitting, walking, talking, repetitive use of hands/arms, lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs, eye/hand coordination, fine Manipulation

Visual Acuity:Close vision (clear at 20 "or less), distance vision (clear at 20' or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
