Job Description:

The Project Engineer, Maritime IRAD Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing the engineering Internal Research and Development (IR&D) portfolio with best practice processes and tools. They will assist our divisions in meeting long-term product development goals that enable profitable growth. S/he provides strategic technical leadership of the IR&D portfolio, establishes and directs a monthly cadence of review to ensure objectives, tracks milestones and manages program dependencies. S/he will also coordinate with the Maritime Sector Strategy lead and division Chief Engineers in the business to develop and update mission and product roadmaps. The successful candidate is an experienced technical and business professional who is able to focus simultaneously on near- and long-term strategic objectives. The Engineering Maritime IRAD Portfolio Manager must be able to interact with Sector peers, Segment and Corporate technical leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Develops and supports a culture of continuous improvement and best practices within the Engineering organization focusing on effective planning, metrics-based Earned Value (EV) execution and optimization of engineering processes, systems, and resources.

  • Promotes Innovative methodologies and methods to solve tough business issues in an agile manner

  • Works with the Sector leadership and division chief engineers to co-develop the organization’s technical roadmaps and technology strategy.

  • Works with the Engineering Leadership Team to review each IRAD projects, execution plans (Technical, Cost and Schedule) and milestones

  • Coordinates forecast with Maritime Sector finance team and provides monthly updated forecast.

  • Maintains a climate that fosters a high level of employee motivation, performance, and commitment.

  • Experience with control account management and Earned Value (EV) management

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and minimum 9-years applicable experience in a product development role,

  • OR A Master’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 7-years of experience,

  • Or In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

  • Active US DoD Secret Level Security Clearance

  • 9 years of applicable experience in a product development role; DoD experience a must

  • Experience leading engineering integrated product teams

  • Must be able to travel up to 20%

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $122,500 - $227,500 for the Anaheim, CA location . This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
