Summary

The Custodian is a member of the Facilities Team whose primary responsibility is to maintain the facility for all the school. The Custodian serves as the first point of contact for overall impression of the facility and it is imperative to keep it neat, orderly, safe and presentable for anyone visiting the school. The Custodian will coordinate with various departments in support of a clean, orderly and presentable environment. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects the schools' image and its occupants. This position is best suited for someone who has the ability to observe, fix and repair school property, internally and externally. The Custodian will communicate and coordinate with management and staff members on the progress of maintenance and will provide scheduling, when necessary. Keeping the school clean and orderly is paramount. The Custodian will be required to monitor, check and repair various fixtures throughout the facility while having the knowledge, maturity and ethics to maintain the schools image of professionalism. Duties and Performance Objectives

  • Under general direction, perform a variety of skilled custodial and facility maintenance tasks, to include some janitorial duties, by maintaining assigned building, ground and classrooms.

  • Maintaining the school in an orderly, clean, sanitary, and safe condition, at all times

  • Perform maintenance and minor repairs of external and internal appearance of the schools' building (replacing broken switches and lightbulbs, fixing door handles, repairing minor leaks, etc.) and making adjustments to equipment and building, as necessary

  • Report major damages to Management and work with various vendors to help resolve any issues or necessary major repairs

  • Undertake occasional Janitorial tasks, daily, as necessary

  • Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and thoroughly dusting surfaces throughout the entire campus

  • Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets, as necessary

  • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and restock disposables

  • Wipe mirrors, windows, and countertops

  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances

  • Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous component

  • Familiarity with basic handyman practices, such as but not limited to, painting, scrapping, fixing, repairing, and replacing various fixtures

  • Assist with moving furniture and preparing for events

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma

  • One or more years of experience in a custodian role is desired

  • The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep and a keen eye for detail and diligence which are imperative in this custodial maintenance job

  • Exhibit professionalism, strong work ethics, honesty, integrity, courtesy and respect in all dealings with campus staff, students, guests, or others with whom the school conducts business

  • Familiarity and comfort working with various environments, such as but not limited to close/tight spaces, storage closets, and classrooms

  • Sound judgment and reasoning skills to problem solve

  • Clear and concise communication skills

  • Ability to quickly learn new skills based on observations and direction

  • Detail oriented, organized and able to prioritize tasks efficiently

Work Schedule

  • 40 Hours/Week

  • Mondays-Thursdays 11am-7:30pm, Fridays 9am - 5:30pm.
