The Marine & Powersports Technician performs maintenance, repairs, and installations on boats, snowmobiles, and related power sports equipment, with a focus on quality, efficiency ,safety, and cleanliness.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm; one Saturday a month 

Pay: $18-$30/hr depending on skill level

Job Duties:

  • Work closely with a team of technicians to learn the service trade, and to perform routine maintenance on boats, snowmobiles ,and other power sports units and equipment

  • Test, diagnose, and make repairs to units using diagnostic tools, and according to manufacturer’s instructions and mechanical knowledge and skills

  • Obtain and install equipment and accessories on to units and test for proper function; provide instructions to the customer on proper use and care

  • Review and update workorders and details, customer concerns, and any related information relative to repair work using the computer system

  • Operate the yard tractor to safely move product into and out of the showroom, service area, and parking lot

  • Perform housekeeping in the service shop, such as sweeping and general cleaning, throughout the work day

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma

  • Experience using basic hand and power tools

  • Automotive or mechanical experience, or experience in a skilled trade preferred, but not required

Competencies:

  • Ability to follow safety instructions and promote a safe working environment

  • Ability to read technical diagrams or blueprints

  • Customer friendly, observant and well organized

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team, in a fast-paced environment

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

  • Talking and hearing, walking and sitting, using hands to grasp, pushing, pulling, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and reaching with arms/hands, are required.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 20 pounds frequently, to move objects

  • Exposure to some inside and outside adverse environmental conditions, such as fumes, dust, oils and lubricating fluids, mechanical moving parts, moving vehicles, fluctuating weather conditions, and occasional hazardous chemicals or materials
