Objective

Reporting to the FP&A Manager within the Commercial Finance team, based at the EMEA headquarters in Amsterdam, the Junior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial planning and analysis functions within the organization. A key player in the monthly close and reporting processes, this role involves collaborating with various departments to gather financial data, analyze performance, create and maintain financial reports, and contribute to the development of budgeting and forecasting processes.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Assist the FP&A Manager in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring all key dates & deadlines are respected

  • Analyze and interpret financial data to provide insights into business performance

  • Conduct thorough financial analysis to support strategic decision-making

  • Evaluate financial performance and prepare reports for management

  • Identify areas of improvement and provide actionable recommendations

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Work closely with FP&A Manager to create detailed budget models per department and main area of spend, focusing on Marketing spend

  • Monitor and track budget performance against actual results, identify and analyze variances providing explanations for budget deviations

  • Support the preparation of the monthly P&L forecast

Reporting & Period Close

  • Assist the FP&A Manager in the monthly P&L close, review adjustments and deviations

  • Prepare deck and presentations for the Leadership team ensuring all period close deadlines are met

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data in reports

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in financial analysis, FP&A or accounting / controlling

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PowerQuery & PowerPivot is a plus); SAP and PowerBI are preferred but not mandatory

  • Understanding of commercial contracts, agreements with customers, discounts and rebates

Skills and competencies

  • Drive for results and action oriented

  • Organized and structured yet flexible; able to prioritize based on business needs and management requests

  • Fluent in English

  • Strong communication skills; being able to present financial information in a clear and concise manner to finance and non-finance stakeholders

  • Tech-savvy, detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
