IIMAK Process Engineer (Inks) in Amherst, New York

What you’ll do:

As a Process Engineer, you’ll make a direct impact as a subject matter expert in wax and solvent-based ink production, where you’ll be able to use your expertise to provide engineering support, troubleshoot and resolve complex processing issues on the production floor. Your natural problem-solving skills will come in handy as you lead capital projects that increase equipment uptime, output, and capacity.

Your passion will lead you to initiate and drive continuous improvement programs that increase productivity and overall equipment effectiveness. To ensure success in the role, you have extensive experience in chemical manufacturing processes, excellent project management skills and are highly analytical.

  • Solve production problems involving grinding, mixing, dispersing, filtration, and quality

  • Support capital projects for capacity and process improvements

  • Leads and/or supports continuous improvement programs to improve safety, quality, and efficiency

  • Participate and leads cross functional teams related to manufacturing programs

  • Takes engineering lead on production capacity teams

  • Instruct others and prepare Standard Operating Procedures to define steps/controls for the manufacturing process

  • Stays informed on new ink grinding and processing technology and leads implementation of equipment to remain competitive

  • Develop layouts to optimize process flow and material handling

  • Supports actions and provides directional cost models on commercialization teams for new products

What you have:

  • BS Chemical, Mechanical or related engineering discipline

  • 3 to 5+ years of related experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing production processes on an industrial; chemical manufacturing experience preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of mixing and grinding equipment/process/system technologies

  • Knowledge of engineering principles/theories/formulas/standards/practices

  • Justification/management of capital investments

  • Commercialization activities for new products

  • Solid CAD software and PC skills
