Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is located on a beautiful rural campus in Amherst, Massachusetts. We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 700 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. The Early Learning Center is a unique community composed of varied constituencies: children, parents, teachers, Hampshire College work-study student assistants, Hampshire students, and faculty members who use the center as a laboratory for study. Many visitors come to observe and learn more about the work we do. The Early Learning Center is dedicated to nurturing a community that honors and is enriched by the contributions of all who play, learn, work, teach, study, and visit it.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Hampshire College Early Learning Center, an innovative, Reggio-Emilia inspired, college-affiliated early childhood education program, is accepting applications for substitute teachers. We are seeking creative professionals who can work in collaborative, team-teaching positions with infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers on an as-needed basis.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Applicants should have prior experience working with young children.

  • Applicants must be passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.

  • Must have experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Must demonstrate skill in understanding of cultural differences
