The success Manatts, Inc., enjoys today in the construction industry started 75 years ago. Back then, it was one man, one truck, and now our team of employees numbers more than 700 strong. We have dozens of ready-mix and asphalt production facilities around the state of Iowa. Our massive fleet of dump and ready-mix trucks serves thousands of job sites every year. In addition, our concrete and asphalt paving divisions, along with our various other crews, complete hundreds of projects every season.

Job Description

Our Ames Paving Division has an opening a Concrete Foreman. This individual will work with and directly supervise 6-10 non-supervisory employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of work crews engaged in preparing and placing concrete for handwork and curb and gutter machine work, ensuring the quality of placed concrete in all areas, training employees, planning assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems and additional duties as assigned. Daily paperwork is required to ensure time cards and job quantities are correct and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, construction methods, interpretation of plans and specifications including the ability to read survey stakes and use a survey rod and level to check slopes and drainage prior to concrete placement

  • Ability to read plans, excellent problem solving skills, and a strong mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to work long hours, nights and weekends when necessary

  • Effective communication and leadership skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Light equipment experience

  • Gomaco curb and gutter machine experience, a plus

  • Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record

  • CDL license preferred or able to obtain in a reasonable time frame after hire

  • High school diploma or equivalent
