Joseph T. Berrena Mechanicals Service Technician in Altoona, Pennsylvania

We are looking for an experienced Technician with 5 years of experience to efficiently undertake a variety of tasks ranging from fixing commercial kitchen equipment to gas and refrigeration plumbing. A successful Technician must have a thorough knowledge of hydraulic systems. They are patient individuals with a practical mind and manual dexterity able to work efficiently with great attention to detail. The goal is to install and maintain well-functioning systems that are commonly found in commercial kitchens across a variety of restaurants.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and drawings to understand or plan the layout of kitchen equipment and refrigeration
  • Cut, assemble and install pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure (e.g. electrical wiring)
  • Locate and repair issues with gas and refrigeration systems (e.g. leaks)
  • Repair or replace broken line sets and gas lines
  • Repair common kitchen equipment
  • Install and maintain gas and liquid heating systems (air-conditioning units, radiators, etc.)
  • Proven experience as a kitchen technician
  • Solid understanding of commercial and industrial buildings
  • Working knowledge of gas refrigeration in accordance with flow exhaust systems as well as appliance exhausts
  • Ability to handle tools and equipment manifold gauges, refrigerants
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly with a great deal of patience
  • Good physical condition and strength with the ability to work in awkward spaces
  • High school diploma, GED and equivalent required diploma or certification from a trade school, or successful completion of apprenticeship
  • Valid license to practice profession (not required)

  • Hourly wage based on experience
