Full-time, Day/Night shift, (3) 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, including possible rotation, weekends and holidays.

Purpose:

Responsible for properly storing and distributing drugs; receives and accounts for drugs from all vendors. Delivers medications to patient care and other areas; picks up drug returns and applicable paperwork; and returns all returned unit-dose products to proper receipts. Responsible for filling patient drug boxes, floor stock orders, and automated dispensing cabinets. Assists Pharmacists as directed. Maintains daily reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately fills floor stock requests.

  • Basic understanding of the concept of physical stability and chemical stability as it relates to parenteral pharmaceuticals.

  • Correctly interpret physician orders and can distinguish between pharmaceutical orders, laboratory tests, radiology, nursing, and other orders.

  • Repackages drugs into a unit-of-use container.

  • Perform monthly medication storage area inspections.

  • Prepare correct labeling for bulk drugs.

  • Understands microbial contamination and exhibits Aseptic Technique while preparing sterile pharmaceutical products.

  • Selects drugs from stock in the proper dose, dosage form, and quantity as ordered by a physician under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

  • Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.

  • Education and Formal Training Required: High School Diploma or GED.

  • Certified Pharmacist Technician Certification Preferred or Certification required within one year of hire.

  • Experience Required: Prefer previous pharmacy experience

  • Must be familiar with a typewriter keyboard and demonstrate the ability to produce a neat, accurate, and legible copy.

  • Individuals must have the ability to adapt to the computerized Pharmacy Information Systems utilized.

  • Individuals must demonstrate initiative and good judgment. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
