Hourly Wage Range:$26.51 - $37.66 depending on experience and qualifications.

Hiring Bonus Up to $20,000 in accordance with the Hiring and Retention Policy (attached)for eligible lateral transfers with current Nebraska law enforcement certification, depending on experience and qualifications. All hiring bonuses must be authorized by the City Manager.

Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete all conditions of employment, including drug test, physical, extensive background check, as well as successfully complete the NFLST Supervisor's exam prior to completing probation.

The City of Alliance, Nebraska (8,500) is accepting applications for a full-time Police Sergeant. If you are a motivated certified law enforcement officer with at least two years' experience looking to advance your career, and want to help meet the vision and mission of the Alliance Police Department, this is the opportunity for you. The Sergeant will perform a variety of routine and complex safety work in the performance and administration of police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, and related law enforcement activities. The pay range for this position is $26.51 to $37.66 hourly with an excellent benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life and supplemental insurance, a matching retirement plan with 7% contribution by the employee and City, vacation, sick leave, comp time accrual, and paid holidays. The City also offers an in-lieu of benefit for employees with other medical coverage, or a health savings account (HSA) with a City contribution of up to $140/month for qualified participants.

Eligibility:Applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by two years of college level coursework in law enforcement or a related field; Completion of the State Basic Training Academy or equivalent academy; A minimum of two years work experience as a fully commissioned police officer or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability. About the Police Department The Alliance Police Department consists of seventeen (17) sworn positions and eight (11) civilian personnel. The Departments command staff includes the Chief of Police and a Lieutenant. Supporting the command staff are four Sergeants, all who are assigned to the Patrol Division. The Police Department also has a Drug Investigator, Criminal Investigator and a K-9 Unit.

The Department works closely with local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The Department responded to over 28,900 calls for service in 2022. The Alliance Police Department remains an active law enforcement agency in the western Nebraska region.
