Johnson, Mirmiran, and Thompson Inc. Transportation Quality Assurance Inspector in Allentown, Pennsylvania

JMT is seeking Transportation Quality Assurance Inspectors for multiple positions available on PennDOT’s Major Bridge Initiative in the Susquehanna County area. The successful candidates will apply standard quality assurance inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. US Residency is required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • This is a Quality Assurance Inspection Position on a large, multiyear, complex, highway construction project which includes multiple structures, roadway restoration and traffic improvements. This position includes verification and documentation of compliance with contract requirements and PennDOT Construction

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

  • Perform verification of conformance to standards for testing on concrete, soils, and other materials.

  • Ability to measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.

  • Record field notes, other documentation, computations and prepares reports.

  • Gathers, review, and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other documentation systems)

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Computer proficiency, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience (Transportation preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

  • Client Requested certifications (required to meet TCI-3 qualifications), including:

  • NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction

  • NECEPT-Bituminous Field Technician

  • PennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite)

  • CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
