The Department of Transportation is seeking a hardworking individual to supervise a bridge inspection team within Engineering District 5-0 and perform variety of technical duties associated with the safety inspection of in-service structures and other assets to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with mandated Federal and State regulations and guidelines.  If this sounds like the position for you, apply today! As a team leader defined in National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) regulations, this position supervises a bridge inspection team and performs various technical duties associated with the inspection of bridges and other assets. This includes assets such as drainage pipes, culverts, signs, walls, overhead pedestrian walkways, railroad structures, closed bridges, and other assigned assets. The position ensures that all inspections are conducted in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations and guidelines. The incumbent completes the required NBIS bridge safety inspection training and certification course and the required refresher courses to retain active certification.

The position is also responsible for supervising the compilation of field data, photographs, sketches, narrative descriptions, inspection forms, and comprehensive reports from field observation and inspection. You will make recommendations regarding underwater inspection, re-rating, or maintenance work items. The position also supervises and performs the inspection of all structural components, such as concrete footings, abutments, wing walls, bearings, back walls, steel beams, girders, truss members, pre-stressed concrete beams, timber construction, bridge decks and wearing surfaces, expansion devices, approach slabs, relief joints, piers, bents, rivets, bolts, welds, and safety features. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Condition of Employment:

This position is required to meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards. This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
