Construction Manager - PennDOT Transportation Projects - 306896

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Michael Baker International is seeking a Construction Manager to join our team in the Allentown, PA office. Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Construction Manager will monitor and document construction projects, coordinate work, oversee quality, and ensure projects are being built in accordance with the plans and specifications. Projects ranging from $1M to $200M serving various clients in the Greater Lehigh Valley and Pocono Region.

RESPONSIBILITITES * Oversees simple and moderately complex construction projects and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards. * Uses computer assisted scheduling software to review CPM Schedules. * Manages contractual commitments for contracts including costs, quality, schedule, and field activities. * Verifies appropriate project documentation including correspondence with the contractor. * Prepares complex correspondence to the contractor or others including responses to claim notifications. * Avoids disputes by proactively tracking issues, coordinating with responsible party(s), gathers data, and provides advice/recommendations to the client. * Leads regularly scheduled Project Control Meeting with the contractor and owner. * Oversees work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications with adherence to construction schedule. * Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports. * Evaluates Change Orders and Value Engineering proposals. * Performs Constructability Reviews. * Coordinates with project stakeholders and general public. * Verifies construction activities within federal, state, and local rules and regulations. * Occasional to moderate travel may be required. * Other duties as assigned. * May supervise employees in various construction positions.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS * Two-year degree is required. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred. * 10+ years of experience working in a construction related field. PennDOT experience is a plus. * Proficient computer skills to write reports, evaluate schedules, provided cost estimates and other calculations. * English language skills, written and verbal, are required in this role. * Must possess a valid driver's license. * Ability to traverse construction sites and be outdoors in various climates. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and procedures.

COMPENSATION The approximate compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
