Job Summary:  The Chassis Engineering Manager will lead the chassis engineering team within the larger vehicle engineering group. The role is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and integration of chassis systems for a variety of programs and products. Leading a team of chassis engineers, the role provides technical guidance and ensures the successful execution of projects. This position is located in Allen Park, MI. As Chassis Engineering Manager, you will:**

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of chassis engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the design and development of chassis systems, components, and subsystems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage chassis engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations for team members.
  • Support the business acquisition and quotation process.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the chassis engineering team, assisting with technical problem-solving, design optimization, and resolution of complex issues.
  • Collaborate closely with other engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, align priorities, and facilitate effective communication.
  • Foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration, ensuring effective communication channels and knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance chassis engineering processes, methodologies, and tools. Identify opportunities for innovation and lead the development of new chassis engineering solutions and technologies.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders, addressing technical challenges, resource requirements, and project milestones.

Minimum qualifications to be considered:

  • Bachelor's in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in engineering, including design, development, and integration of chassis systems in the automotive or a similar industry.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Solid understanding of chassis components, subsystems, and their interactions, including suspension systems, steering systems, brakes, and structural elements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, safety requirements, and industry best practices related to chassis engineering.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet project deadlines.
  • Proven ability to present complex data to a diverse audience including senior leadership.
