Overview

Under the supervision of the Manager of Technical Operations, the Technical Trainer will perform a critical role in the management, delivery, and documentation of requisite training in support of Lovelaces research programs.

The Trainer will work with a variety of staff to ensure that training and documentation meet the needs of regulatory compliance and Institute SOPs, coordinate the training needs of several institute departments and individuals while remaining cognizant of regulatory compliance, work directly with and obtain guidance from multiple sources, (i.e. Attending Veterinarian (AV), Training Protocol PIs, Institutional Official (IO), Testing Facility Management (TFM), Study Directors, Director of Quality and Compliance, and Division Supervisors and Trainers) then formulate and implement appropriate training programs, and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 3-5 years of directly related training experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Preferred computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and other heavy equipment, pushing, bending, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, outdoor work, working in extremes temperature and humidity. Must be able to wear a respirator and protective clothing or equipment. A Post-offer physical and background check/security clearance are required. Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Prior experience in a GLP environment is strongly preferred, as is prior experience with regulatory bodies involved in oversight of laboratory research (USDA, CDC, FDA, AAALAC, etc.).

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a wet laboratory environment. Will operate standard laboratory equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform lab- and desk-based computer tasks, perform laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. May work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.
