Applied Research Associates (ARA) is looking for a Financial Analyst with a broad set of skills and experience to join our Southwest Division in Albuquerque, NM. Our diverse, energetic, and collaborative Concept Development Group offers an excellent opportunity to join our dynamic, employee-owned team in providing critical capabilities to our warfighters through innovative engineering solutions. The financial analyst will be responsible for multiple contract types within a DOD portfolio; creating budgets, monitoring spending, preparing reports for upper management, analyzing discrepancies, and finding ways to stay within budget. This role requires the ability to independently diagnose discrepancies (if any), provide results and effective financial program tracking for multiple programs. Additionally, another portion will be utilized by collaborating with our technical teams in cost proposal and ROM creation and monitoring.

What you’ll do as a Financial Analyst

  • Develop plans to promote cost reduction initiatives and process improvements in support of flawless supplier execution for programs.

  • Prepares and analyzes financial reports using actual cost information for program utilization.

  • Coordinates and monitors the scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of assigned programs.

  • Works directly with internal/external stakeholders in regard to program status, addressing of needs, and resolution of issues.

  • Assists in the preparation of proposals, plans, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts.

  • Tracks and monitors labor, material, overhead, and other costs related to programs.

  • Identifies and monitor financial risks and develops risk mitigation strategies.

  • Participates in program management reviews, management progress reports, and presentations.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical proficiency in finance and program cost tracking

  • Skilled at organizing and translating financial information into clear written documentation; articulating complex budgets and expenditures

  • Experience working in a collaborative environment; ability to work well under tight deadlines and effectively interact with a wide range of personnel

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written language communication skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Knowledge of SharePoint, MS Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project) and Adobe Acrobat preferred.

Preferences

  • Bachelors’ degree and a minimum of 4 years of finance and/or accounting experience and 2 years of project management experience.

U.S. citizenship is required, as the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Current clearance preferred.
