Job Summary:

An opening exists for a control systems/data acquisitions technologist to join our team. The selected candidate will be part of an engineering/operations team that operates X-ray generating sources at three pulse power facilities located in TA-IV. The data acquisitions technologist will provide support and operation of control/data acquisition systems and will provide support to the accelerator customers. The successful candidate will require knowledge in the following areas: Data acquisition, control systems, and documentation methodology.

Job duties will include:

  • Characterization, setup, and testing of data acquisition instrumentation on the AGT facilities. This includes characterization, maintenance, and inspection of digital oscilloscopes, attenuators, and data cables.

  • The CM/DAS tech will also be responsible for running control programs to acquire data during an AGT facilities shot, uploading shot data to a specific location, and keeping track of changes using the AGT database.

  • Will coordinate job functions with other machine related activities through CM/DAS MTS.

  • Will become familiar with and train in facility operations and provide support to operations as needed.

  • Will follow step by step procedures for job duties and strictly adhere to client ES&H procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Position requires the ability to lift objects up to 35 lbs.

  • Position requires repetitive motion activities such as: Kneeling, crouching, hand motions (turning objects), and pulling.

  • Demonstrated ability in electronic based technologies and basic computer networking skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in the use of digital oscilloscopes.

  • Ability to learn custom software applications.

  • Familiar with MS Office products such as: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

  • The applicant must be capable of taking direction from members of technical staff.

  • The positions require work at government facilities and the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen capable of acquiring a government security clearance (Q).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired):

  • RF systems experience (troubleshooting/maintenance).

  • Familiarity with IDL programming language

  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical documentation.

  • Three years or more of computer programming in National Instruments Lab View.

  • Five years or more experience in computer networking.

  • Five years or more in a technical position related to data acquisition/control systems.

  • Five years or more experience in operating/supporting data acquisition systems.

  • Five years or more experience in operating/supporting control systems.
