Job Description:

Supports the timely collection of account receivables by working closely with customers and Summit’s sales teams, educating each on the importance of timely payments. Also, responsible for developing credit relationships in assigned markets with customers, sales team, and Service Center Managers. Works closely with Director of Credit/Corporate Credit Manager to ensure timely and accurate processing of credit applications. Exceptional service to external and internal customers is critical to the success of a Credit Specialist.

Principle Accountabilities:

 

  • Monitor key metrics including DSO and Bad Debt and surpass goals set by department and Director of Credit.

  • Collect from receivable accounts in a timely manner.

  • Timely interaction with customers to establish/update credit ratings and update account information. Analyze to mitigate risk.

  • Research and resolve credit issues with customers as needed and verify transactions.

  • Assist Sales, Operations Managers, Accounts Payable, Finance, and other Summit departments as needed with credit issues and when additional assistance is needed by customers.

  • Set up and track job accounts.

  • Prepare lien notices per state statutes and create lien releases as necessary.   

  • Prepare for annual and other audits as necessary.

     

Essential Skills and Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial credit experience.

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation – both external and internal.

  • Keen eye for detail, proven math skills, ability to work quickly and accurately with numbers.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written.

  • Unwavering commitment to Summit values and mission.

  • Time management – strong ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

  • Flexibility – ability to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.

  • High School diploma or GED required.

     

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

 

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business or related field or 5+ years of equivalent experience.

  • Credit experience in similar organization or industry. 

  • Previous successful experience in SAP or other ERP software is preferred.

  • Previous experience of knowledge of High Radius or Order to Cash software preferred.

  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • Knowledge of lien laws and statutes.

  • NACM certifications and involvement.

     

Physical Challenges:

 

+ + Consistent sitting for many hours at one time.  Majority of day (85%+) is spent sitting at desk.

  • Must be able to lift 5 pounds on a regular and consistent basis.

  • Regular and consistent use of keyboard.

  • Ability to climb stairs on occasion.

  • Majority of job is located inside office, during regular store hours of operation.

  • Periodic travel to assigned Summit locations is required (up to 10%).
