This position will require the individual to develop curriculum across subject areas for College Experience. The curriculum provided will cover the length of a semester, 16 weeks at 2 hours of instruction per week per class. In addition, this position will require both teaching of College Experience classes and to run social skills groups.

This position will be the main point of contact for communication with parents both proactively and when parent concerns arise across topics of menu planning, grocery shopping and their students personal finance budgets. Following communication, a plan for the student to improve and or receive the supports necessary per the parents’ concerns will be developed and monitored for progress.

• Develop curriculum for teachers to use on Google Platform for College Experience courses directed by the Academic Coordinator. Curriculum may include but not limited to: banking and budgeting, cooking, personal relationships, health and wellness, menu planning, and executive functioning. Curriculum should be interactive for all learning styles.

• Teach College Experience classes, course offerings will vary by semester, 5-7 courses on average per week.

• Provide academic support/instruction to students outside of class on an as-needed basis.

• Develop and/or use tools to assess skill level, evaluate performance, and track progress of students in life skills areas.

• Attend weekly staff meetings/Coordinator meetings.

• Facilitate family communication on questions and concerns regarding menu planning, food shopping and personal budgeting for all enrolled, 55, College Experience Students.

• Deliver small group social skill support classes.

• Address individual student concerns & provide appropriate guidance as needed.

Requirements

• BA required, MA preferred in special education or related field

• Experience teaching and developing curriculum

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organization and time management skills
