IPRO Epidemiologist in Albany, New York

Based in Albany, New York the incumbent will be responsible for assisting the senior staff in the New York State (NYS) Department of Health (DOH), Office of Public Health, AIDS Institute in performing epidemiologic, other data-related investigatory services. Also, providing program evaluation assistance for the Hepatitis B and C Surveillance Program.

Specifically, you will: Participate in the development, implementation, collection, processing and analysis of hepatitis C surveillance data systems. Facilitate the use of hepatitis C surveillance data systems for programmatic and epidemiologic purposes consistent with the Hepatitis C Elimination Initiative. Assist in the review, update and revision of Hepatitis Surveillance guidelines and outbreak detection and response plans. Provide in-service training for LHD and Regional Office staff on hepatitis C surveillance and appropriate investigation and linkage to care for hepatitis C infected patients and patients co-infected, i.e., HIV and or STIs. Conduct medical record reviews to identify injection drug use, pregnancy status, and/or other factors that relate to epidemiological investigation. Participate in data-driven continuous quality improvement activities that are designed to improve the quality of the surveillance data as a key input for Hepatitis C Elimination programming, i.e., routine HCV testing, care and treatment, and linkage to prevention.
