IBM Entry Level Tactical Operations Engineer, Day Shift in Albany, New York

Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Research at Albany Nanotech is currently seeking an Entry Level Tactical Operations Engineer. The Tactical Team Engineer will be monitoring, tracking, and analyzing operation metrics with a high level of focus on defining gaps and improving productivity and efficiency. This work will take place in the 300mm NYCREATES Albany facilities, which is a collaborative work environment with IBM engineers and partners in a complex multi-party R&D operational environment, requiring close collaboration with NYCREATES. The Tactical Team Engineer will spend approximately 85% of their time outside the cleanroom monitoring fab metrics, spreading WIP efficiently, tracking critical lots, coordinating special help for various programs and partners.

This position is for a day shift alternate work schedule: 12 hours day, 3 days working/4 days off; 4 days working/3 days off. Individuals must be willing to work any day shift and cross over with the night shift. The Albany facilities runs 24x7, and IBM must provide support for all shifts. Strong communication and negotiation skills are required for this role. The successful engineer will be excited to meet new challenges and exhibit a high-level of interest in understanding and solving complex technical problems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring fab metrics and coordinating resources to close gaps

  • Single point of contact for special and/or urgent help and make priority calls

  • Spread WIP efficiently, identify and push aged WIP

  • Tracking lots requiring fast through put to meet program deliverables

  • First responder for lot holds and work to resolve quickly and efficiently

  • Work and communicate with various teams, respecting the rules of engagement of thedifferent partner and contractor (vendor) relationships

  • Data analysis using web-based reports and excel to track/report production efficiency/quality and recommend actions to drive improvements

  • Create PowerPoint presentations and present updates

  • Involved in training activities to build a proactive, engaging team

  • Maintain a safe work environment

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience with manufacturing and production concepts, including planning and scheduling workflow

  • Demonstrated leadership and strong consensus building skills

  • Strong data analysis skills, well versed in statistical software programs

  • Clear and effective communication skills (written and oral)

  • Must be able to work weekend shift

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • One (1) year of experience in the semiconductor industry

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or other technical area

  • Technical knowledge and understanding of semiconductor processes and tool sets

  • Working knowledge of industry and management methodologies focused on continuous improvement in manufacturing, such as SPC, SiView or Six Sigma

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
