The Associate Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations is responsible for supporting and contributing to the Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College’s corporate and foundation fundraising program. This primarily includes identification and development of financial resources for Albany Medical Center’s tri-partite mission – patient care, biomedical research, and medical education.

The Associate Director will manage a blended portfolio of companies and private foundations prospects locally, regionally and potentially throughout the nation. The Associate Director is primarily responsible supporting the Director of Development for Corporate & Foundation Relations in developing and maintaining strong relationships with funding agencies, and play a coordinating role for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective donors, providing stewardship, and reporting on progress.

Salary Range: $80,151.00 - $132,249.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Support Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations to identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate and foundation funders, achieving a personal fundraising goal and contributing toward team and departmental goals.

  • Support proposal development including writing proposals; copyediting; proofreading; and submitting proposals.

  • Solicit and secure sponsorships for Albany Medical Center’s Signature Events: Light up the Night, Dancing in the Woods and the Annual Golf Tournament.

  • Collaborate with Foundation staff where there are synergies and overlap with corporate and foundation donors.

  • Work with Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations to steward donors insuring that reporting or other deadlines are met, including preparing grant reports, and developing and implementing recognition strategies.

  • Support the Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations to develop and execute annual plans for the corporate and foundation relations program, and to develop corporate & foundation funding strategies reflecting institutional priorities and programs.

  • Maintain a master calendar of proposal deadlines, grant progress reports, and final grant reports.

  • Be able to build relationships to achieve desired outcomes in accordance with the goals of the position.

  • Support the Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations to maintain a collaborative working relationships with key clinicians, faculty and staff to gain knowledge of Albany Medical Center activities around generating corporate and foundation support.

  • Partner with the Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations in collaborating with Office of Research Affairs, Finance, and respective departments as necessary for funding opportunities, grant submissions, and budget requirements.

  • Manage administrative responsibilities by maintaining current prospect activity and proposal information utilizing the Raiser’s Edge database in a timely manner.

  • Serve as an outstanding member of the Foundation advancement team by demonstrating initiative, accountability, and quality in all assignments

  • Represent the Foundation at fundraising, Center, and College events, in the community and among peer professionals in a manner that generates respect and goodwill.

  • Adhere to the highest levels of professional conduct including appropriate attire, appearance, and behavior in the workplace and while representing Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College.

  • Perform duties and responsibilities according to Albany Med Health System’s Code of Conduct and Employee Manual; be timely and accurate in all documentation and record-keeping; use good judgment when performing the functions of the job and interacting with colleagues and stakeholders; accept direction and respond professionally to achieve desired result; work cooperatively with others on our team and throughout the Albany Med Health System; adhere to Albany Med Health System’s policies, procedures and practices; and, utilize Albany Med Health System’s problem-solving processes for resolving grievances or disagreements.

  • Accept other assignments as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with preference given to candidates with experience in an academic health sciences, university, or similar environment.

  • The successful candidate will have experience in fundraising, with a preference in corporate and foundation, and outstanding aptitude for building interpersonal relationships.

  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in writing proposals, letters of inquiry, etc. and understanding of how to gather and present data to create a compelling case for support.

  • Must be able to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.

  • Must be team oriented and someone who encourages collaboration and participation across programmatic boundaries.

  • This position requires a professional whose background is characterized by initiative, leadership, creative energy, and outstanding communication skills.

  • Travel, evening, and weekend business functions may be required.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, experience in an academic health sciences, university or similar environment preferred.
