Job Description:

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies houses five undergraduate (criminal justice, law, and behavioral science; sociology; public health; English, writing, and culture; history) and two graduate (forensic mental health; criminal justice and community corrections) programs. Our programs incorporate multiple perspectives and fields to provide students with an interdisciplinary perspective of the practice of human behavior and culture. The successful candidate will be able to support more than one departmental program and can demonstrate a knowledge base that incorporates multiple disciplinary perspectives. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the complex and interdependent factors that influence human behavior and wellbeing. An understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of human behavior and an ability to present a multifaceted view of social relationships and human behavior is a must. Candidates should be able to incorporate concepts from various disciplines into explanations and exploration of human behavior and wellbeing. Candidates should have a terminal degree related to the behavioral sciences (for example psychology, sociology, public health, criminal justice, anthropology) at the time of appointment.

Teaching assignments will be primarily in the department's undergraduate programs but may also include the opportunity to teach graduate courses in our Master's programs. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop interdisciplinary courses and collaborative relationships with members of the Interdisciplinary Studies Department and other departments.

The estimated base academic year salary range for this position is $50,000- $55,000, commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

A PhD in the social sciences and a demonstrated interdisciplinary perspective on human behavior is required. Teaching experience is strongly desired; candidates must possess a commitment to teaching and advising excellence, scholarship, and service. Experience working with a diverse student body is a must.
