Albany International Airport Airport Maintenance Technician - Glycol Process Operator in Albany, New York

POSITION: Airport Maintenance Technician

This position follows all provisions of the CSEA collective bargaining agreement.

SPECIALTY: Process Operator

REPORTS TO: Chief Process Operator

LOCATION: ALB

AIRPORT: Albany International Airport

SUMMARY

Performs a wide variety of tasks involved in the operation of the deicing storm water collection, containment and treatment systems on a daily basis. This position is primarily assigned to the storm water treatment area during the daily work shift, however will perform other duties as assigned.

The Process Operator is mainly a hands-on position in which the employee performs the operation of specified collection, containment, anaerobic treatment processes in the storm water treatment facility during an assigned shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Starts, stops and changes pumps and valves as required.

  • Reports emergencies or unusual conditions.

  • Assists in the recording and adjustments of the storm water collection, containment and treatment system.

  • Monitors localized equipment for proper operation

  • Plows ramp areas and airside roadways.

  • Cleans the ramp area with glycol collection equipment.

  • May be required to perform any other related duties as assigned.

  • Participates in Total Quality Management Programs

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess and maintain and/or be able to secure during the probationary period, a NYS CDL B license and be proficient in operating a forklift or other heavy equipment as may be needed.
