Job Description:

Principal Bridges/Structure Design Engineer

Doha, Qatar

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Bridges/Structure Design Engineer to join our team!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Detailed structural design of bridges, tunnels, underpasses, retaining walls, car parks, and public infrastructure-related buildings/structures.

  • Review and sometimes produce design drawings, calculations reports and specifications.

  • Supervise other engineers and CAD team as per project task assigned.

  • Act as a checker within the team to ensure the quality of the deliverables prior to formal client submissions.

  • Communicate with other technical disciplines to produce well-coordinated design to ensure satisfaction of functionality and serviceability requirements and clash-free configurations.

  • Coordinate with the other technical disciplines to ensure that the required inputs are provided on time to allow for the development of the structures design deliverables.

  • Track the progress of the assigned design and report to the Design Manager and Project Managers of the status and any issues that may arise during the design development.

  • Support other engineering activities as required by the Design Manager.

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

  • Be self-motivated and require minor supervision on committed tasks.

  • Mentor the younger engineers of the structures team on technical aspects.

  • Lead by example the project design team and the structures team members.

  • Potential to perform in a leadership capacity.

  • Regularly provide technical guidance to other engineers.

  • Primary interface with the Client on all matters relating to work assignments for the structures discipline.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering and 10+ years of related work experience. Work experience must be related to hands-on design and design review of structures .

  • Intimate knowledge of the following software: Midas Civil, CSi Bridge, SAP2000, Structural Bridge Design (Auto desk), Autocad, Bentley RAM connections/elements, Prokon.

  • Intimate knowledge of the following design codes: British Standards, Eurocode, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Ashghal IAN 009 and other structural design related interim Advice Notes.Business-level English language skills sufficient to produce well-written reports with organized structure and minimal need for grammatical corrections, and to hold articulate verbal communications .

  • Excellent verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with the client, management and project personnel on technical and non-technical issues.

  • Must be MME registered.

  • Must be internationally recognized with engineering licenses such as PE, SE, and CEng.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with Revit software.

  • Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written
