Description

SUMMARY:   Assist with accurate and timely prescription processing. Communicates with patients over the phone and in pharmacy to address customer service issues. Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of pharmacy. Pharmacy technician will be responsible for additional tasks assigned by the pharmacy manager. Senior pharmacy technicians will be responsible for additional clinical and administrative tasks assigned by the pharmacy manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assist in Prescription Processing

  • Accurately and timely fill all prescriptions
  • Input patient and prescription data into the computer system
  • Process 3rd party billing and insurance rejections 
  • Retrieve the appropriate medications from stock
  • Place the appropriate medications into prescription containers
  • Create prescription labels and put them on appropriate prescription containers
  • Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions
  • Refer drug questions to the Pharmacist
  • Process patient assistance program requests 
  • Follow current and new Federal and State Laws
  • Help with medication delivery when needed

Customer Service

  • Ensure prompt service by assisting patients
  • Answer telephones promptly
  • Retrieve prescriptions from the will-call area for patients
  • Complete pharmacy patient transactions on the cash register

Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of pharmacy

 

Additional tasks as assigned by the pharmacy manager

 

*Senior pharmacy technicians will be responsible for additional clinical and administrative tasks assigned by the pharmacy manager, including inventory, cycle counts, auditing requests, recalls, etc.  *

Requirements

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  *

 

Required experience and education:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must have clean Background Check- WebCheck (BCI & FBI)
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Bi-lingual skills -- preferred
  • Pharmacy technician must have 1-year experience or graduation from a pharmacy technician program. 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Senior pharmacy technicians must be registered as a certified pharmacy technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Additionally, senior pharmacy technicians must have passed either the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) or the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PTCE) and maintain certification in Good Standing with either the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT) or the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
