Huntsman is seeking a Process Development Chemist supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Akron, Ohio. This position will report to the Regional Process Development Manager. As the Process Development Chemist, you will: Execute development projects with minimal supervision. Collaborate with manufacturing and process engineers to understand and improve manufacturing process efficiency and effectiveness. Scale-up new processes and products from lab, then pilot and finally to commercialization. Provide manufacturing support and troubleshooting of existing products. Exhibit project leadership by designing, executing, analyzing and reporting on multiple simultaneous projects. Work closely with the business team and plant management to understand the needs of the business. Work with sales team to support customers as needed. Bring new product and process ideas to the team. Review relevant literature for expanding knowledge. Train and lead less experienced team members in advanced lab techniques. Additional essential functions include: Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives. Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives. Assist other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participate in and complete company-required training programs. Required Qualifications: You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Chemistry or closely related discipline. 2+ years' experience in Chemical Industry. Preferred Experience Preferable experience with polymerizations, condensation reactions and other chemical reactions. Master's degree is preferable but not required depending on experience. Track record of hands-on lab experience at varying scales. Experience with DSC, FTIR, Chromatography and NMR. Skills And Knowledge Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email and Microsoft programs. Must be familiar with chemical lab safety such as SDS, hazard analysis, PPE, chemical/equipment handling. Must have solid knowledge of chemical transformations, pilot reactions and process scale-up. Must be able to critically evaluate experimental results and clearly communicate with various teammates. Work Environment Must be able to work outside in all elements to complete tasks as needed.
