Community Support Services Inc Maintenance Repair II in Akron, Ohio

General Functions:

Provide a safe and efficient work environment for staff, clients and visitors. Responsible for the operation of all mechanical functions within the agency.

Typical Duties:

  • Completes work order requests assigned by the Maintenance Repair IV       
  • Performs electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs throughout all CSS locations. Such as replacing electrical outlets, switches, and ballast; repairing and / or replacing lavatory faucets, flush valves, water heaters, and drains; repair or replace interior or exterior doors, windows, and misc. furniture. Builds shelving and other needed fixtures as specified by the Maintenance Repair IV.
  • Performs  structure repairs, including plastering and painting as needed.
  • Repairs or replacing locking hardware on doors, windows, cabinets, and desks.
  • Paints interior walls, ceilings, door frames, and exterior trim as needed.
  • Operate equipment  for snow removal, delivery or other necessary errands.
  • Perform annual, semi annual, weekly, and periodic checks and service equipment and systems throughout the agency. 
  • Maintains inventory of tools and supplies, requisitions materials as necessary to complete assignments.

Employment Qualifications:

Education:  

Minimum of a high school diploma.

Experience (min 10 yrs):           

Minimum of two years of experience in general building and grounds maintenance. Experience working with disabled persons preferred.

Knowledge/Abilities:

Empathy for individuals who are living with a disability and a realistic desire to assist individuals in adjusting to the world of work.  Possess knowledge of safety practices and equipment operation including hand tools, electric repair tools, etc. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to work independently, self-generate work orders and maintain a high level of productivity. Ability to work within a group setting.  Ability to problem solve and to use available references necessary to complete assignments. Ability to use a computer and technology devices.

Necessary requirements:            

Physical stamina; ability to lift a minimum of 75lbs.  Valid Ohio Driver's license and insurability through the Agency's insurance carrier.  Ability to drive large vans w/trailers, equipment, etc.
