Distribution Drafter (Hybrid)

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Drafter for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in our Airdrie, Alberta office.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The position will work with electrical and civil engineers and designers to develop electrical utility construction packages from conception through construction. The candidate should be able to work in design teams, be self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take initiative to learn new skills.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge; learning client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborating on design issues; and seeking guidance from those with more experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in an accredited drafting program (Engineering Design or Drafting Technology)

  • Strong understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software with emphasis on AutoCAD and MicroStation

  • Attention to detail, time management, prioritization, and organizational skills will be critical for completing tasks

  • Strong written and oral communications skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Reliable self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks

  • Willing and able to learn new software packages, procedures, and client standards

  • Knowledge of basic electrical and/or civil engineering concepts would be considered an asset
