Savannah River Mission Completion Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer/Specialist in Aiken, South Carolina

Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion is seeking Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance Engineers or Specialists to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

The Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer/Specialist (Senior Engineer I or Senior Engineering & Technical Support Specialist II) implements solutions to engineering challenges to meet standards set by the Department of Energy (DOE) for the Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) project.

This is a multilevel posting. Candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position level commensurate with their education, experience, and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assume technical responsibility for one or more phases of a program and/or ownership for unit operations within processing facilities. Collaborate with colleagues to provide innovative improvements to the existing processes.

  • Provides solutions that require in-depth analysis of multiple tangible and intangible factors and the creative use of established methods as an experienced member of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Ensures facility modifications are designed, reviewed, approved, implemented, tested, documented, and tracked using formal work and change control processes.

  • Performs informal walk downs on a periodic basis to observe general conditions such as (but not limited to) identifying unauthorized modifications or improper configurations, observing deteriorating material conditions, and identifying abnormal equipment performance.

  • Specific job responsibilities may involve the following assignments: project engineering support, facility engineering support, develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Control Logic Diagrams, Instrument Loop Drawings, Segment Drawings, Instrument Location and Installation Drawings, equipment procurement requirements and specifications development, technical calculations and reviews, design input requirements development, design reviews, and equipment troubleshooting plans.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Senior Engineering & Technical Support Specialist II position:

  • High school diploma, Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree in a non-Engineering discipline, with related operations, operations support, or maintenance experience

To qualify for the Senior Engineer I position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university with professional engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of advanced engineering principles and practices to develop appropriate outputs.

  • Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards.

  • Ability to perform walkdowns.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a changing environment with multiple demands and priorities.

  • Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both verbally and in writing

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor. USD $80,900.00/Yr.
