Collins Aerospace Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico (GETC-PR) is looking for a an exceptionally motivated Platforms Systems Engineer that is passionate about systems engineering and can thrive in a highly technical environment.

In this role you will develop system designs and validate these in multiple domain avionics systems. Projects span the entire development lifecycle, including pursuit and order capture, system design, requirements definition, requirement allocation, requirement traceability, use case development for software/hardware, systems integration, verification testing and qualification.

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction for execution robustness and ad-hoc testing in lab environment.

  • Platform system engineering through all phases of system product development including program pursuit and capture, requirements capture and analysis; system architecture design, requirements allocation and traceability, system/subsystem integration, system verification, system validation and life-cycle product support.

  • Estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules while managing scope & risk is essential.

  • Ensure the development and management of technical risks and develop and execute mitigation plans.

  • Mentor and train less experienced systems engineers.

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 5 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Experience working in an Agile Development Environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Avionics or software development/testing experience.

  • Robust understanding of systems, software, and hardware development processes in an avionics application.

  • Coding experience in Ada, C/C++, or Python.

  • Requirement management tools: DOORS or JAMA.

  • Atlassian Suite knowledge (JIRA and Confluence in particular).

  • Experience with DO-178B/C.

  • Experience with configuration control of documentation, test artifacts and environment setups.

  • Knowledge in MBSE

  • Risk identification and management.
