Joni and Friends Director, Diversity and Belonging in Agoura Hills, California

Duties

Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President, Impact & Leadership Development, support the overall objectives Joni and Friends through the Diversity & Belonging Initiative . Perform duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Develop and execute strategies to foster kingdom cultivation throughout the organization

  • Research and recommend plans to promote diversity to executive leadership

  • Create and manage programs that produce a healthy culture of belonging

  • Provide training and education on Diversity and Belonging to employees, volunteers, and partners

  • Incorporate biblical content in training and communication materials

  • Research, implement, and monitor kingdom cultivation protocols and policies

  • Collaborate with departments and provide guidance in kingdom cultivation initiatives

  • Assist HR, Area Teams, and Global Internships with recruitment strategies in reaching all people with various cultural backgrounds and abilities

  • Support Area Ministries in outreach efforts in underserved areas

  • Teach Beyond Suffering and other courses developed by The Center to pastors, partners, and students

  • Travel to colleges, churches, or conferences domestically and internationally

  • Lead teaching presentations through online courses or conferences

  • Advocate for kingdom cultivation and belonging with all Joni and Friends stakeholders

  • Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor to support department and organizational needs

    Qualifications

  • Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith

  • Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry

  • 5+ years of senior management experience

  • Master’s Degree in Theology or equivalent knowledge and experience in leading Diversity and Belonging initiatives

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize a wide range of daily tasks with varied deadlines

  • Detail-oriented and a flexible self-starter capable of working independently and with a team

  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality is imperative

  • Strong general computer skills are necessary along with a competent, working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and the Internet

  • Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable

     

    Compensation for this position in the Agoura Hills area is $100,000 - $110,000 per year, and it may vary if the candidate is not located near Agoura Hills, CA. This can be a remote position.

Culture of Belonging Approach – Encourage a culture of belonging ensuring that the needs of the disability community are addressed with grace and understanding

Integration of Faith and Work – Ensure that Christian values are a driving force in all aspects of work
