OMG Roofing Products Quality Engineer in Agawam, Massachusetts

Quality Engineer Position Overview OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster?. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. The quality of our products and services is critical to the success of our company and our customers. The Quality Engineer will support cross-functional teams to assist in identifying risks, investigating quality problems, identifying, and implementing quality controls, and qualifying new or revised products and processes. The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality and specification compliance for new product development and ensuring that suppliers, toll manufacturers and third-party service providers meet OMG and industry quality standards. Position Responsibilities Promote Safety as the Number One priority of all OMG employees. Responsible for the development and execution of qualification plans for new products and changes to existing products and processes. Develop and deploy Advanced Product Quality Planning tools including FMEA, Control Plans, Risk Assessments and PPAP. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to determine the root cause of customer complaints and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Analyze data from a variety of sources to identify quality improvement opportunities and opportunities to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality. Drive improvements in the OMG corrective action system that ensures the timely and permanent resolution to all failures and drives compliance to established quality standards. Collect and trend-analyze data to establish ongoing manufacturing and quality metrics. Active participant in assigned New Product Development Teams and ensure that all quality deliverables are completed as part of the OMG stage gate process. Develop and maintain Quality System procedures, including internal and external audit procedures and standardized data collection programs. Prepare and conduct training related to product quality and quality processes and systems. Responsible for supporting all elements of the supplier quality system including new supplier qualification, suppler monitoring and evaluation, non-conforming material management, root cause analysis and CAPA. Position Requirements Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Technical Engineering or Science-related discipline. Operations/manufacturing experience required. Minimum 5 years\' experience in leading and implementing quality improvements. Six Sigma Black Belt certification and demonstrated use of discipline strongly preferred. ASQ certifications preferred. Advanced PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite and statistical software Minitab. Strong statistical skills, experience using Quality Tools and knowledge of Lean Principles. Ability to prioritize work assignments, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with a high degree of quality and accuracy. Superior teamwork and communication skills. Strong project management and problem-solving skills Demonstrated leadership and conflict management skills. Positive attitude and good judgment. Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
