Description

OVERVIEW

Cadrex Agawam is seeking a CNC programmer to utilize CAD/CAM software to program and/or operate conventional, special purpose and numerical control (NC) mills and lathes and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes drawings, specifications, and defined manufacturing process plan to determine program input data such as manufacturing methods, tools, reference points, and work holding devices

  • Determines operation flow, and speeds and feeds of selected cutting tools

  • Creates tool paths on CAM software for use in production CNC machines

  • Creates support documentation such as set-up plans, flow charts, tool lists, inspection method sheets, as well as special fixture and tool designs

  • Proves out new and updated CNC programs for accuracy and efficiency

  • Trains shop floor personnel in the intricacies of the operation

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have the ability to set up machines as required

  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner

  • Gathers and analyzes information skillfully

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • 5 years prior manual machining experience and working knowledge of CNC machines and controls preferred

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry

  • Certificate for CAM software training is preferred

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED
