How will you make an impact?

The main responsibility of this position is to gain a comprehensive understanding of Thermo Fisher Scientific products and serve as the lead engineer for integrating the Process Analytics product portfolio. Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to address problems, develop new applications, and ensure compliance with customer and global regulations.

Additionally, this role will play a key part in our operations team with an electrical engineering focus supporting both customer orders and product sustaining work.

Key Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Meet customer happiness goals for timely delivery as well as ongoing quality and reliability standards, working closely with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Quality, and Project Management functions.

  • Design electrical and electronic systems and instruments for industrial and mining applications ensuring that all designs are fully documented with detailed component specifications and approved manufacturers lists and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs) in ERP system

  • Participate in supplier qualifications/audits and support quality team to develop suppliers quality performance.

  • Strong grasp of fundamental Electrical principles acquired through crafting electrical/electronic and pneumatic control systems for challenging environments (EMC/EMI, surge protection etc.)

  • Experience with MCC and PLC layout and development and PLC programming or other relevant structured programming language

  • Strong understanding and application experience in industrial, automation and structured programming including different fieldbus

  • Experience in instrumentation and electrical system design, cables, reticulation, specifications, etc including circuit design using modern design practices

  • Practical hands-on experience of electrical wiring and solving electrical and electronic issues

What will you bring to our team:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering required

  • Formal Electrical, Computer Science or Project Management studies are desirable

  • Minimum 2-4 years work experience in an appropriate engineering role. Experience in minerals processing, slurry transportation, materials handling and/or heavy industry would be desirable but not essential.

  • Demonstrated knowledge or and experience working to engineering and AS/ISO standards, including the ISO 9001: Quality System.

  • Knowledge of relevant codes and underlying theory.

  • Ability to read and understand engineering plant drawings and P&ID diagrams.

  • Presentation and communication skills to develop high levels of credibility with customers.

  • Self-motivated and committed with an ability to run schedules and maintain critical timelines.

  • Proficient user of 2D and 3D drawing packages (AutoCAD, SolidWorks preferred) and Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to program PLC or exposure to control systems is ideal or will be required to be developed
