The Adel DeSoto Minburn Community High School is seeking highly motivated, quality applicants for a full-time school counselor position for the 2024-2025 school year. ADM High School has been named the 7th best high school in the state of Iowa by U.S. News and World Report, and the 2nd best high school in the metropolitan area.

ADM HS educates approximately 650 students, is located in Adel, and shares the complex with the Middle School. The ADM community will be building a new high school to open for the 2027-2028 school year.

ADM strives to hire teachers who are Hungry for learning and student success. Humble in the success they have, and a person who is people Smart and understands others and their needs. The ideal candidate would have a passion for working with students and families and would possess a master’s in school counseling, knowledge of standards-referenced grading and professional learning communities is needed. Applicants will embrace and promote the mission of our school and the ADM district.

Education:

  • · Valid Iowa Teaching License

  • · License Endorsement: Professional Counselor

  • · Appropriate B.O.E.E licensure

Essential Functions of this role include:

  • · A belief that each and every learner can achieve at high levels

  • · Knowledge of current research and evidence-based instructional practices

  • · Meet with students individually or in small groups, as able, regarding a variety of student needs

  • · Highly collaborative working with general education teachers, interventionists, and parents

  • · Active participation in a professional learning community comprised of counselors at other ADM schools, targeting PreK-12 student goals

  • · Strong communication skills

  • · Interest in participating and seek out professional learning opportunities, implementing strategies and showing a reflective nature to grow professionally

  • · Effective record-keeping and organizational skills

The high school counselor plays a crucial role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of high school students. This position would be joining a team of individuals working toward doing what is best for all students at ADM High School.
