Summary:

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining programs to assure built-in quality of all products. The QA Manager is ultimately responsible and accountable for setting and complying with company and customer specification, governmental regulations, budget of the department and training of all personnel assigned. Additionally, collaboration with other department managers to ensure the product is produced to the highest food safety and quality standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, audit and maintain Safe Quality Food Policies and Procedures, including HACCP, and FSMA
  • Executes programs in the following areas: mock recalls, metal detection, water quality, chemical storage, allergens, customer complaints, environmental monitoring, food defense, package labeling, third party audits, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Lead audits for SQF, third party customer audits, FDA and State Health related audits, internal audits etc.
  • Ensure the integrity of finished goods storage, loading, shipping documentation and product returns.
  • Develop and implement training programs for warehouse and operations employees (plant storage, allergen awareness, etc.)
  • Define and identify sampling procedures throughout the manufacturing process including: metal detection and analytical procedures. Execute procedures for processing out of specification products.
  • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly test regimen including moisture, fat, protein, pH, microbiological, etc. to assure product safety and quality and comply with all customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with supply chain department in setting up raw material specifications including: raw material/supplier approval/removal; supplier quality audits; raw material sampling requirements; and raw material segregation, storage, inventory control and rotation procedures.
  • Maintain the HACCP program for Food Safety in the plants.
  • Serve as member and/or leader of key committees such as HACCP and Food Safety.
  • Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with the prerequisite procedures.
  • Provide direction and support to staff and plant by communicating current food quality and regulation issues.
  • Develop a training program for the department to ensure that QA Technicians are trained to follow testing procedures and work with analytical equipment.
  • Conduct sensory evaluation program for routine sampling that will compare AbiMar Foods products objectively against our true market competition.
  • Maintain special diet certifications such as Kosher, Halal, NonGMO

Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in Food Science or related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years related experience is required and/or equivalent mix of experience.
  • Food and beverage manufacturing experience is required, cookie/baking experience is preferred.
  • Certifications required: HACCP, PCQI, SQF practitioner
  • Hands on experience with statistical process control and developing HACCP prerequisite programs and SOPs.
  • Proven proficiency in MS Office. SAP knowledge is preferred.
  • Must have general knowledge of the principles and practices of Food Safety, GMPs and Sanitation programs in food processing.
