POSITION TITLE: Chief Executive Officer

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for initiating, developing, implementing, and monitoring strategies which improve the economic health and business climate in Grays Harbor County, resulting in the creation and retention of quality employment opportunities. It is the job of the Chief Executive Officer to implement the vision, values, goals and objectives of Greater Grays Harbor, Inc, in consultation with the Board of Directors.

REPORTS TO: Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. Board of Directors

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. A) Member Relations and Management
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Member Retention and Communication Plan
  • Develop and update all marketing tools, information, and collateral material
  • Attract new members and increase existing members' involvement in GGHI by providing programs, services and benefits that are valued by members as essential to their success
  1. B) Public Relations Management
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local, regional, state, and federal economic development stakeholders
  • Serve as spokesperson for the organization as authorized by the Board of Directors.
  • Provide presentations to community/non-profit groups, local governments, and organizations highlighting the work of Greater Grays Harbor, Inc.
  • Oversee and approve the distribution of all external communication
  1. C) Administration/Operations/Financial Management
  • Ensure adherence with and compliance to all local, state, and federal regulations including all contractual agreements between the organization and these entities
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate all administrative policies and procedures
  • Hire, evaluate and manage staff including discipline and terminations, if necessary
  • Approve and monitor all staff assignments and activities
  • Procure and maintain equipment and office building
  • Solicit and secure all funding for operations from private and public sources
  • Develop and monitor corporate and project budgets
  • Administer all financial contracts and obligations
  • Develop and monitor all financial reports
  • Develop and monitor procedures for internal communication and record keeping
  1. D) Program and Project Management
  • Develop and implement the GGHI Strategic Plan for the organization
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programs for business retention and expansion, business attraction, and Trade/Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
  • Develop and maintain fund raising processes including advertising sales, memberships, event income, and grant funding from private and public sources
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision and fundraising plan for the Greater Grays Harbor Foundation.
  • Administer and manage the Leadership Grays Harbor program.
  • Manage and oversee all signature events, networking and member engagement opportunities
  • Produce an annual Economic Vitality Index and present annual update on the local economy at the State of Grays Harbor event
  1. E) Advocacy
  • Represent and advocate on behalf of the membership, business community, and local governments in Olympia during the legislative session and maintain communication with state and federal representatives throughout the year, as needed.

  • Responsible for coordinating and leading the Government Affairs Committee and for building relationships with elected officials. The President/CEO may serve on statewide committees, boards or task forces and testify on issues impacting the business community.
