Overview

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Enginer to support the replication, exploitation, and analysis of commercial threats program. This program provides engineering support to counter growing multi- and -domain threats and protect U.S. forces around the world from commercial threats.

Responsibilities

  • Assist inengineering discipline activities (i.e. functional testing, component identification and analysis, PCB layout and fabrication, schematic capture and design, etc.)for conducting electronic system, subsystem and component level characterization, reverse engineering, and replication.

  • Provide hands-on physical, operational, and signals characterization of custom, commercial off the shelf (COTS), and hybrid custom/COTS circuits.

  • Provide hands-on technical forensic exploitation (TFE) support for technical intelligence (TECHINT), media exploitation (MEDEX), cell phone exploitation (CELLEX), electronic exploitation (ELEX), and other unique exploitation missions.

  • Identify trends and evolutions in commercial based technology (CBT) equipment and utilization.

OPERATING HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • This position operates on a standard 8 hour schedule 9 - 5 pm Monday - Friday.

Qualifications

CLEARANCE:

  • Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.

EDUCATION:

  • MA/MS degree plus 10 years of experience; OR

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering plus 18 years of experience.

CERTIFICATION(S):

  • N/A

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in electronic schematic generation and printed circuit board (PCB) layout. 

  • Solid background in practical electronics and/or RF theory.

  • Basic understanding of RF communications, with emphasis on characterization of electronic circuits. 

  • Experience conducting time and frequency domain measurements using benchtop equipment, to include signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analysis tools, and other equipment. 

  • Experience performing standard RF measurements (e.g., operating frequency, occupied bandwidth, average power, pulse width, etc.) using the previously listed test equipment.

  • Experience with soldering and re-working electronic circuit boards and components (e.g. through-hole, surface mount, cable assemblies, wire harnesses).

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in reverse engineering electronic circuit boards and components.

  • Basic MATLAB (and other basic programming / scripting) skills. Should be able to apply digital processing techniques to communication signals. Techniques may include digital filtering, sample rate conversion, frequency/phase estimation, modulation, demodulation, carrier recovery, timing recovery, channel equalization, pulse shaping, and forward error correction.

  • Experience working with micro-controllers and embedded systems such as Arduino and writing custom programs to configure and control COTS devices such as transceiver system on chip (SoC) and other programmable devices.
