Journeyman, HVAC Mechanic, Chemical Biological Center, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, M&S

No relocation funds available, must be within 50 miles of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, or willing to waive travel requirements.

The HVAC Journeyman will perform preventive maintenance inspections, diagnostics and corrective maintenance on Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, heating hot water boilers, chillers, piping, pumps, air separators/expansion tanks, air handlers, fan coils, exhaust fans, cooling towers, air compressors, dampers, coils (HW, CW, DX), motors, control valves, pressure reducing valves, relief valves, and all other support systems as needed. They replace piping systems; cut, bend, fabricate using steel, copper, PVC and associated fittings specific to the type of pipe being used to connect new equipment installations and replacements.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent. In lieu of diploma or equivalent, trade school certifications can be used for credit towards years of experience.

  • 5 years’ experience with preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of HVAC systems.

  • Must have Steam Fitter Journeyman certification.

  • Must be either a member in good standing of UA Local Union 486 or willing to become a member.

  • Experience and certifications on JCI METASYS control system preferred.

  • 5 years’ experience working unescorted in Chemical Surety, NTA, and BSL 1,2, and 3 facilities a plus.

  • Must be able to pass customer background check.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

  • Preferred to have completed the 30-hour OSHA Construction safety class.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.

Position is contingent on contract award and funding.
